Dissolve the yeast in 1 glass of milk in a bowl and set aside for 5 minutes.
In a large bowl, put the flour, sugar, salt, and turmeric and mix. Add the yeast mixture, the remaining 1 glass of milk, egg, and butter to the center and knead the dough. The dough should be soft and not stick to the hands.
Place the dough in a bowl, cover it with a towel, and leave it aside to rise, for about 2 hours.
Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper or grease them. Divide the risen dough into two and form balls. Flatten the balls with your hands until you get a 22 cm circle. The thickness of the circle should be 1.2 cm.
Place the breads on the baking sheets. Cover them with a tea towel and set aside for 1 hour to rise.
Preheat the oven to 190°C. Beat the egg with a fork and brush on the surface of the breads. Pattern with a fork and then sprinkle poppy seeds.
Bake the breads in the middle part of the oven for 30-35 minutes, or until their tops are well browned. Cut the breads only after they have completely cooled.
Served with tea.
