Khashil is one of the traditional sweet dishes of the national cuisine of Azerbaijan. It is an energy-giving nutritious dish especially in cold weather.

Pour the water into a pot, add salt and mix.
Add sifted flour and whisk well. It should be whisked so that no lumps remain.
Then cook over the stove on low heat, stirring continuously.
The dish will gradually thicken. When it thickens, stir continuously for another 3-5 minutes and remove.
As soon as the dish is ready, quickly pour it into plates and shape the center into a depression with a spoon.
Pour hot melted butter, molasses, and granulated sugar over it. Sometimes this dish is eaten with honey instead of sugar.
Served hot, topped with butter, molasses, and granulated sugar (or honey).
